The palace, a symbol of modernist architecture in the federal capital, was targeted by vandals during a coup attempt on January 8, 2023. After undergoing restoration, it now features a new exhibition space in its basement.

Guided tours will include the basement, the first, second, and third floors. The average duration is one hour for groups of up to 30 people. Tours will take place on Sundays from 9 am to 2 pm, with entrances every half hour, and the last group admitted at 1 pm. Priority groups are also foreseen.

The Palace

The Planalto presidential palace, located in the heart of Brasília, was one of the first buildings constructed in the new capital and was inaugurated on April 21, 1960.

The site was the center of the celebrations for the inauguration of Brasília, making history and symbolizing the relocation of the federal capital from Rio de Janeiro to the country’s interior.
