Lula unveils anti-femicide plan at 7th Marcha das Margaridas
Brazilian President Lula attended the closing ceremony of the 7th Marcha das Margaridas (“Daisies’ March”) in Brasília on Wednesday (Aug. 26). While addressing some 100 thousand women, he talked about political violence, recalled his time in prison in the city of Curitiba and mentioned the death of Margarida Alves, a rural worker from Paraíba state who was shot dead outside her home in 1983.
